Alaska Man Charged in Jan. 6 Capitol Riot
Eric Richard Staples, now living in Alaska, was arrested on federal charges for participating in the January 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol. Staples, who had his first hearing in Anchorage federal court, is one of four people with Alaska connections to be charged in the riot. The charges against Staples were filed in December, but the case was sealed until his arrest this week. Staples is scheduled to appear by Zoom for his next hearing on March 21.
