Alex Murdaugh and Co-Conspirator Plead Guilty to Federal Charges in Fraud and Money Laundering Case.
Cory H. Fleming, a co-conspirator of former personal injury attorney Richard Alexander “Alex” Murdaugh, is scheduled to plead guilty to conspiracy to commit wire fraud. Fleming and Murdaugh allegedly conspired to defraud the estate of Murdaugh’s former housekeeper and obtain money and property from the estate through fraudulent pretenses. The scheme involved siphoning settlement funds disguised as “prosecution expenses” for personal enrichment. Fleming faces a maximum penalty of up to five years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000.
