Start-Up CEO Faces $175 Million Fraud Charges
Charlie Javice, former CEO of Frank, has been charged with fraudulently inflating the number of customers of her company to induce JPMorgan Chase to acquire Frank for $175 million. Javice lied to JPMorgan Chase and fabricated data to support those lies, all in order to make over $45 million from the sale of her company. She was arrested in New Jersey and charged with conspiracy to commit bank and wire fraud, wire fraud affecting a financial institution, bank fraud, and securities fraud, each of which carry a maximum sentence of 30 years in prison.
