Bird strike forces AA flight to turn back to Myrtle Beach after takeoff
An American Airlines flight from Myrtle Beach to Charlotte turned around and landed back at Myrtle Beach International Airport 36 minutes after takeoff following a reported bird strike; the 172 passengers were safe, there was no engine fire, and the aircraft will be inspected. FAA data note wildlife strikes were nearly 20,000 nationwide in 2023.
