Colorado Funeral Home Owners Admit to Abusing 191 Corpses
Jon and Carie Hallford, co-owners of the Return to Nature Funeral Home in Colorado, pleaded guilty to 191 counts of corpse abuse after nearly 200 decomposing bodies were found at their facility. The couple admitted to defrauding customers by accepting payments for burial or cremation services they never performed, and even provided fake cremains. They also pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit wire fraud in a federal case involving over $800,000 in COVID-19 relief fraud.
