Gold Bar Scammers Swindle Millions from Victims
A woman in Maryland, who had already lost $789,000 in a gold bar scam, worked with police to catch the scammer. The scam involved convincing the victim to buy gold bars for safekeeping, which were then handed over to the scammers. The police, led by officer Lisa Bromley, set up a sting operation and arrested the scammer, Wenhui Sun, who is now facing charges of theft. The scam is part of a growing trend where swindlers pose as federal investigators to persuade victims to buy gold bars and turn them over for safekeeping.
