DeSantis Ethics Questions Raised by Donor's Golf Simulator Gift and Private Flights
A wealthy donor and businessman, Morteza Hosseini, funded a golf simulator worth tens of thousands of dollars for Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, which was installed in the private pool cabana of the governor's mansion. The donation was never reported as a gift by DeSantis, raising ethical questions. While Florida mostly allows officials to receive gifts as long as they are disclosed and won’t influence their official work, the golf simulator transaction appears to have been structured to avoid Florida’s rigorous ethical disclosure requirements. Hosseini, a close ally of DeSantis, said the donation was "entirely permissible under Florida law."
