Former Goodwill CEOs Arrested and Indicted for Stealing Millions from Nonprofits
The former CEO of Goodwill Sacramento, Richard Alan Abrusci, has been arrested and charged with stealing over $1 million from the nonprofit organization. Abrusci is facing nine counts of wire fraud, one count of aggravated identity theft, and three counts of monetary transactions with proceeds of specified unlawful activity. Goodwill Sacramento discovered the fraud through internal audits and immediately reported it to authorities. The funds impacted were from state funding, not donor contributions. New policies and procedures have been implemented to prevent similar incidents in the future. If convicted, Abrusci could face up to 20 years in prison and significant fines.
