"United Airlines Braces for Earnings Losses Amid Boeing Groundings"
United Airlines expects to lose money in the first quarter due to the grounding of Boeing 737 Max 9 jets, with 79 of the aircraft in its fleet. The US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) grounded 171 of these jets after an unused door broke away mid-flight. Inspections have led to flight cancellations, and the FAA has also ordered inspections of an older 737-900ER model. Boeing has pledged to improve inspection quality, and United will provide an update on safety inspections during an upcoming call with analysts and investors.
