Oregon's Voter-Approved Gun Safety Law Struck Down by Harney County Judge
A judge in Harney County, Oregon, has ruled that the state's voter-approved gun safety law, Measure 114, is unconstitutional. The law, which requires background checks and gun safety training for gun purchases, as well as a ban on high-capacity magazines, has been put on hold indefinitely. The state has the option to appeal the ruling, but the process could be lengthy. Gun owners had previously filed a lawsuit arguing that the law violated Oregon's Constitution, and while a federal judge ruled that it did not violate the U.S. Constitution, the state judge disagreed.
