Jail time for Lake Erie walleye tournament cheaters
Two fishermen who cheated in the Lake Erie Walleye Trail Tournament by stuffing ten lead weights inside their walleyes were sentenced to 10 days in jail and ordered to pay a $2,500 fine. They pleaded guilty to cheating and unlawful ownership of wild animals, and one of them gave up his $100,000 bass boat. They also agreed to a three-year suspension of their fishing licenses. The men were disqualified from the tournament and would have received a total prize of $28,760 if they had won.
