Decades-long investigation leads to identification of Lakeland nurse's killer
The Polk County Sheriff's Office in Florida has identified the killer of Lakeland nurse Teresa Lee Scalf, who was murdered in 1986. After nearly 37 years of investigation, detectives identified the suspect as Donald Douglas, who lived behind Scalf at the time of her murder. The murder was sexually motivated, and Scalf's throat had been slit. Douglas died in 2008, but his DNA matched the blood sample found at the crime scene. The family expressed gratitude to law enforcement for solving the cold case.
