"Colorado Legislature's Final Push and Affordable Housing Bill Fate"
The Colorado Senate has killed a land-use bill presented by Governor Jared Polis aimed at addressing the affordable housing crisis in the state. The bill, Senate Bill 213, was initially proposed as a mandate for cities and towns to zone for greater residential density, but was later pared back to a task force. The measure was then partially resurrected in the House to increase the number of multifamily homes around bus and train stops in Colorado’s large cities. The Senate failed to pass the version of the bill that came out of the House, and it wasn’t clear there was enough support to advance the measure to a conference committee.
