Vulture reports stylist Leslie Fremar publicly claims she inspired the Emily character in The Devil Wears Prada. Fremar, who once worked as Anna Wintour’s assistant and helped hire Weisberger, told Vogue’s Run-Through that she believes lines in the book were drawn from conversations with her, and she described an exchange where Weisberger was told “a million girls would kill for the job.” She also recounts receiving an early copy of the 2003 book that was even harsher than the published version, providing new context to the origins of the character tied to Fremar’s experiences in Vogue’s fashion scene.
