Def Leppard drummer Rick Allen was assaulted outside a Fort Lauderdale hotel after a show in South Florida. The attacker, Max Edward Hartley, was arrested on a charge of abuse of an elderly or disabled adult with great harm. Allen lost his left arm in a traffic accident in 1984 but continued to perform with Def Leppard using a specially designed drum kit. The motive for the attack is unknown, and Hartley faces two counts of battery and four counts of criminal mischief.
