Alaska Murder Trial Key Stolen by Woman
A woman with a criminal history stole a memory card from a man's truck, which contained gruesome photos and videos of a woman being beaten and strangled at a Marriott hotel. The voice in the videos was identified as Brian Steven Smith, who has pleaded not guilty to 14 charges, including first- and second-degree murder, sexual assault, and tampering with evidence, in the deaths of two Alaska Native women. The trial, expected to last three to four weeks, began with jury selection, and the judge ruled that the recordings can be properly authenticated despite defense objections.
