Deadly Carjacking Spree Claims Lives of Bus Driver and Two Dogs in DC
A longtime Metro bus driver was fatally shot in a carjacking rampage that also left a woman injured and two dogs dead. The suspect, Daeyon Ross, has been charged with first-degree murder, carjacking, and aggravated animal cruelty. The incidents began in Prince George's County and ended with a police shootout in D.C., where Ross was arrested. The D.C. region has been grappling with a surge in carjackings, with June reporting the highest number of incidents in at least five years. Ross, who had a previous conviction for robbing people on a Metro train, claimed to have a mental health problem and expressed a desire not to be in jail.
