Heroic Cop's Military Background Shines in Nashville Shooting Response
Officer Michael Collazo, a Marine infantry veteran, helped take down the Nashville shooter who killed six at an elementary school. Body-camera footage shows Collazo and Officer Rex Englebert rushing into the school and confronting the shooter, Audrey Hale, before taking her down. Collazo served in the Marine Corps from 2010 to 2016 and departed as a sergeant. He earned several medals during his service. Collazo's friend and fellow Marine veteran praised his discipline and kindness. Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee praised the officers' heroism.
