Brazilian Mother and Daughter Die 10 Hours Apart, Honoring Shared Wish to Avoid Witnessing Each Other's Death
Cibele Marchis, 28, and her mother Maria Elisabete Nogueira, 56, died of cancer within 10 hours of each other in Mogi Guaçu, Brazil, in late September 2026. Both women had previously agreed not to be informed of the other's death if it occurred while the other was still alive. Cibele passed away on September 24, while her mother, who was sedated in a different hospital in the same city, died on September 25. The pair received a joint burial, leaving Cibele's father a widower without children.
