London-based fashion designer Mowalola Ogunlesi faced backlash after showcasing a miniskirt featuring the Saudi Arabian flag in her Spring 2024 collection at London Fashion Week. Arab and Muslim fashion accounts called for a boycott of the fashion distributor FarFetch, which sells Mowalola items. Ogunlesi initially mocked the controversy but later deleted posts and apologized for the offense caused. The use of the Saudi flag on clothing is considered disrespectful due to its sacred inscription. This is not the first time Mowalola has used religious symbols in designs.
