Thrift Store Vase Purchased for a Few Dollars Sells for Thousands
A couple purchased a four-inch Meiji-era vase with Japanese inscriptions at a UK thrift store for $3.30. After researching the vase, they discovered it was crafted by renowned artist Namikawa Yasuyuki and could be worth up to $11,800. The vase, featuring naturalistic depictions of birds on a black background, will be auctioned on July 29. The couple plans to donate a portion of the windfall to the charity shop and go on a vacation.
