NIA cites evidence against Yasin Malik in court case.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has sought the death penalty for separatist leader Yasin Malik in a terror funding case. The Delhi High Court issued a notice to Malik and warrants for his production before it on August 9. The NIA argued that Malik indulged in terrorist and secessionist activities and should be awarded the death penalty by treating the matter as a "rarest of rare" case. Malik had pleaded guilty to the charges, including those under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, and he was convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment.
