
Tragic Firefighter Death in Leonardtown House Fire Likely Caused by Lightning Strike.
A firefighter from the Naval District Washington Fire Department was killed while battling a two-alarm house fire in Leonardtown, Maryland. The fire was likely caused by a lightning strike and destroyed the home. When first responders entered the home, the first floor collapsed, trapping and killing the firefighter. A volunteer firefighter was also injured and transported to the hospital. The Maryland State Fire Marshal is investigating the incident.
