FDNY Firefighter Mark Batista Dies Saving Daughter at Jersey Shore
Firefighter Mark Batista, a 15-year veteran of the FDNY, died while rescuing his teenage daughter from rip currents off the coast of Avon Beach, New Jersey. There were no lifeguards on duty, so Batista jumped in to save her. The daughter was physically unharmed, but Batista's body was later found. The FDNY released a statement mourning his tragic passing.
