NYC Marathon Revises Bronx Route to Restore Local Access
For the first time since 2011, the NYC Marathon will alter its Bronx course, reducing seven turns to five and changing the mile-20-to-21 segment so runners stay on Alexander Avenue, head up to 138th Street and 141st Street, then onto Third Avenue before crossing the Madison Avenue Bridge back to Manhattan. The change, intended to lessen disruption and restore access to a supermarket and a laundromat for residents near Patterson Houses, reflects the neighborhood’s growing residential presence and was approved with input from the city and police.
