Cornell Investigation Deepens as New Records Link Drug Arrest to Assault Timeline
Cornell University police records reveal a drug-related arrest at the Chi Phi fraternity house 22 hours before an alleged sexual assault, complicating the investigation into a former student's claims of drugging and gang rape. While the drug incident does not directly link to the assault, it highlights gaps in the initial police response. New York Attorney General Letitia James has been appointed as a special prosecutor to review the case after the Tompkins County District Attorney declined to bring charges. The university faces a civil lawsuit from the victim, identified as Jane Doe, and internal disciplinary actions have been taken, though critics argue the response was insufficient. A named defendant is also suing to expunge his name from the allegations.
