YouTuber Sentenced to Prison for Staging California Plane Crash
Trevor Daniel Jacob, a YouTuber, has been sentenced to six months in federal prison for staging a plane crash in California to create a YouTube video of himself parachuting to safety. Jacob pleaded guilty to obstructing the investigation by destroying the debris from the crash and concealing evidence. The video, titled "I Crashed My Airplane," was posted in December 2021 and showed Jacob's small plane supposedly experiencing engine failure over the Los Padres National Forest. He had a sponsorship deal for the video but never intended to complete the flight. Jacob's pilot license has been revoked, and he was found guilty of lying to federal investigators about the crash.
