
David Sheiner, Notable 'Odd Couple' Poker Player, Dies at 98
David Sheiner, a veteran character actor who played one of the poker players alongside Walter Matthau and Jack Lemmon in the 1968 film The Odd Couple, died June 5 at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles at 98 from renal failure. A Bronx native who also appeared in The Twilight Zone and The Stone Killer, his career spanned Broadway and dozens of TV roles, with his last screen credit in 1988's Murder, She Wrote. He is survived by his wife Mary-David, son Andrew, daughter Kate, and granddaughter Liv; donations may be made to the Motion Picture & Television Fund.
