Hawks' Onyeka Okongwu secures $62M deal before deadline
Onyeka Okongwu, center for the Atlanta Hawks, has agreed to a four-year, $62 million contract extension, becoming the final player from the 2020 NBA draft class to finalize his rookie scale extension before the deadline. Okongwu averaged 9.9 points and 7.2 rebounds last season and was the No. 6 overall pick in the draft. The Hawks were unable to reach a rookie contract extension with forward Saddiq Bey, who will enter restricted free agency next summer along with other notable players.
