NJ Attorney General Assumes Control of Troubled Paterson Police Department.
The New Jersey Attorney General's Office has taken control of the day-to-day operations of the Paterson Police Department, citing fiscal challenges and misconduct by some officers. The state will bring in a new leadership team and has appointed a new commander to take over in May. The move comes as community leaders and activists have been calling for a federal takeover of the department following the fatal police shooting of Najee Seabrooks on March 3.
