Gas station violence: Recent incidents spark investigations and arrests.

The New Hanover County Sheriff's Office is investigating an assault after a severely beaten man was discovered by employees of the Pit Stop gas station. The victim was taken to the hospital in critical condition. A suspect, Daniel James Mendoza, has been taken into custody and charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury. The investigation is ongoing.
