GOP's Efforts to Shield Trump from Indictment Face Resistance from Manhattan DA and Rand Paul
Senator Rand Paul called for Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg to be jailed over his handling of the criminal investigation into former President Donald Trump, which many Republicans believe is politically motivated. House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan and Oversight Chairman James Comer also criticized Bragg's plans to charge Trump, calling it an "unprecedented abuse of prosecutorial authority." Trump himself has accused Bragg of "Prosecutorial Misconduct and Interference with an Election." Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has also criticized Bragg for his efforts to charge the former president.
