Moderna's mRNA flu vaccine shows promising results, paving the way for future advancements
Moderna has announced plans to scale down the manufacturing of its COVID-19 vaccine in order to align with lower post-pandemic demand and achieve its target of 75% to 80% gross margin growth. The company is in talks with its partners to downsize production and adjust to the endemic phase of the disease. Moderna predicts a decrease in demand for the vaccine as payers scale back orders. The company has received authorization to start shipping doses across the United States and has deals with other countries, but not yet with the EU. Moderna is also working on downsizing COVID manufacturing while engaging in talks with third-party manufacturers for upcoming respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) and influenza vaccines.
