Texas Supreme Court halts Galveston County's post-primary redistricting
The Texas Supreme Court blocked Galveston County from using newly redrawn voting boundaries for the November general election, saying officials improperly changed district lines after the primaries in a move that violated the state’s requirement for uniform election conduct. The court ordered the county to use the March primary precinct maps for now, rejecting arguments that lines could be redrawn “from time to time.” While the county can rely on the new maps after November, separate lawsuits are pending to block their enforcement.
