Congressman proposes overhaul of presidential record-keeping laws following Trump indictment.
The House Intelligence Committee is considering an overhaul of presidential record-keeping laws following Donald Trump's indictment. Chairman Mike Turner cited "grave concerns" about Trump's handling of classified documents, but noted that every administration has been careless with sensitive material. Presidents are required to relinquish documents to the National Archives and Records Administration under the President Records Act, but the law has very little teeth. Turner did not elaborate on the specific changes his panel is considering. The committee is also mulling reforms to the FISA court process in the wake of the Durham report.
