
Civil rights groups challenge timing of Louisiana's election suspensions under Purcell rule
Louisiana asks the Supreme Court to quickly certify a ruling that guts the Voting Rights Act so it can redraw majority-Black districts before fall midterms, but civil rights groups say suspending the U.S. House primary now would violate Purcell by changing rules too close to an election, risking voter confusion as early voting has begun and tens of thousands of ballots have already been cast.
