Rare Skin Disease Affects 8-Year-Old Girl, One of Few Worldwide
An eight-year-old girl named Harper Foy from Washington has been diagnosed with Harlequin Ichthyosis (HI), a rare genetic skin disorder that causes her skin to shed every four hours. Harper is one of only 20 people in the US and 100 in the world living with this condition. Despite the challenges she faces, including constant hydration and the need for multiple showers daily, Harper has defied the odds and is now modeling professionally for children's clothing brands.
