1.5 Million Ocoopa Hand Warmers Recalled After Overheating Deaths and Injuries
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has recalled about 1.5 million Ocoopa rechargeable hand warmers after hundreds of injuries, 15 fires, and the February death of an 83-year-old San Diego woman from overheating. The models UT3053, UT3056, ZLS-118, ZLS-118S, ZLS-118D, H01, and H01(PD) were sold 2018–2026 on Amazon, Ocoopa Direct, and Walmart. Consumers should stop using the devices and request a refund via Ocoopa Direct (gift card or original payment). Do not throw them in the trash; dispose through local household hazardous waste programs due to lithium-ion fire risk. A related wrongful-death lawsuit has been filed against Ocoopa Direct and Amazon.
