DeSantis tackles education and housing crises in Florida.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed the "Live Local Act" bill aimed at addressing the state's affordable housing crisis. The bill provides incentives for private investment in affordable housing, encourages mixed-use development in struggling commercial areas, and creates tax exemptions for developments that set aside at least 70 units for affordable housing. The bill also provides funding for various programs, including $252 million for the State Housing Initiatives Partnership program and $150 million a year for the State Apartment Incentive Loan program. However, some Democrats expressed concerns about the bill's prohibition of rent controls and certain local government pre-emptions.
