California Hostage Situation Leaves One Dead and Two Injured
Roseville Police identified the victim who died in a shooting at Mahany Park as James MacEgan and the suspect accused in the shooting as 35-year-old Eric J. Abril of Roseville. The incident began when a California Highway Patrol Task Force was serving a search warrant on Abril. Abril allegedly took MacEgan and his spouse hostage, and a CHP officer was injured in the shooting. Abril is hospitalized and has not yet been officially booked into the Placer County Jail.
