
Tragic Rutland City Police officer death leads to multiple charges against suspect
Tate Rheaume, 20, has been charged with multiple offenses, including grossly negligent operation of a motor vehicle with death resulting, after allegedly killing a Rutland City Police officer and injuring two others during a police chase in Rutland, Vermont. Rheaume was attempting to break into a residence when he fled in his vehicle, leading to a pursuit. He collided head-on with a police cruiser operated by Officer Jessica Ebbighausen, who was pronounced dead at the scene. Officer Richard Caravaggio was injured and released from the hospital, while Officer Kelsey Parker was treated and released. Rheaume remains in custody and is expected to appear in court.
