Tesla's China EV Sales Decline in September, BYD Emerges as Strong Competitor
Tesla's sales volume of China-made electric vehicles (EVs) decreased by 10.9% in September compared to the previous year, according to data from the China Passenger Car Association. Sales of China-made Model 3 and Model Y cars were down 12.0% from the previous month. Meanwhile, Chinese rival BYD saw a 42.8% growth in passenger vehicle deliveries. Tesla, along with its competitors in China, is preparing for a potential rebound in consumer sentiment by offering discounts and taking advantage of tax breaks for green vehicles. The company recently missed market estimates for third-quarter global deliveries due to production halts caused by factory upgrades.
