Salt Lake Leaders Unveil 2034 Vision for New Downtown Sports and Convention District
Smith Entertainment Group and Salt Lake officials revealed detailed plans for a new mixed-use district near the Delta Center, featuring a 6,000-seat concert venue, a taller Salt Palace Convention Center, and a pedestrian walkway connecting City Creek to the arena. Construction begins in 2027, with full completion targeted before the 2034 Winter Olympics. The project aims to replace 400 feet of loading docks with retail and offices, while preserving Abravanel Hall and adding a new contemporary art museum.
