Global Views on Same-Sex Relationships and Marriage
According to Gallup's annual Values and Beliefs poll, fewer Americans believe same-sex relations are morally acceptable, while more believe the death penalty is. Birth control and divorce are still widely viewed as morally acceptable. Republicans are driving the changes on same-sex relations, with only 41% now finding it morally acceptable, down from 56% a year ago. Democrats and independents are much more likely to find same-sex relations morally acceptable. Republicans and independents are more likely to find the death penalty morally acceptable, while Democrats' acceptance is essentially unchanged.
