"Middle School Pride Event Disrupted by Students Destroying Decorations and Chanting 'USA are my Pronouns'"
Students at Marshall Simonds Middle School in Burlington clashed during a Pride Month celebration, tearing down rainbow decorations and chanting “USA are my pronouns.” The school’s principal apologized to members of the LGBTQ+ community and asked staff and teachers to take a stand against homophobia. A School Committee meeting was scheduled to discuss the incident. Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey expressed disappointment and called for the situation to become a teaching moment for the students involved.
