Rep. George Santos fights to keep bail sponsors' identities secret.
Rep. George Santos' attorney has requested the judge overseeing the case to keep the names of the people who put up his $500,000 bond sealed, claiming that they are likely to suffer great distress, lose their jobs, and may suffer physical injury if their identities are revealed. Santos pleaded not guilty to 13 federal charges, including campaign finance and fraud charges, and was released on a $500,000 bond. The freshman congressman has said he will not resign from his seat and plans to seek reelection next year.
