Guilty Plea: U.P. Man Threatens to Kill Jews at East Lansing Synagogue
Seann Pietila, a 19-year-old from Michigan, pleaded guilty to one count of transmitting a threatening communication after posting online threats to attack and kill people at an East Lansing synagogue. Pietila admitted to sending multiple Instagram messages about planning a mass shooting and targeting Jewish people. He faces up to five years in federal prison and is scheduled to be sentenced in March. The rise in antisemitism nationwide has led to increased efforts to prevent and prosecute acts of hate.
