
Waves from Hurricane Marie Trigger Evacuations on Long Beach Peninsula
Waves driven by the remnants of Hurricane Marie breached a seawall and damaged the Seaside Walk boardwalk on the Long Beach Peninsula, leading to evacuation of about 20 homes as crews pumped out water and cleared sand; building inspectors will assess whether foundations are compromised, with streets still closed and high surf expected to continue as El Niño raises concerns about rising sea levels.
