GOP Seeks Wealthy Senate Candidates
National Republicans are seeking Senate candidates who can self-fund their campaigns with tens of millions of dollars, as the party's reliance on super PACs funded by its richest supporters has been insufficient. The GOP is targeting West Virginia, Montana, and Ohio, but fundraising problems have stymied them in the past. The NRSC's new chair, Sen. Steve Daines of Montana, has placed an emphasis on trying to secure candidates who are either exceptional at fundraising or personally wealthy.
