South Korea's SK Telecom has announced a $100 million investment in U.S. artificial intelligence firm Anthropic, joining Google and Spark Capital as investors. The two companies plan to collaborate on developing a global telecommunications-oriented multilingual large language model and building an AI platform. Anthropic, founded by former OpenAI executives, is known for its Claude models, which are considered competitors to OpenAI's GPT-4. SK Telecom had previously made a smaller investment in Anthropic in May, and the size of its stake in the company remains undisclosed.
